Start/finish and race direction give the circuit a consistent reference. Set these before doing detailed work on sectors and corners, then check their relationship to the intended lap.
Review the complete track and make sure the direction you selected matches the layout you are defining. If you later change the start location or direction, revisit the definitions that depend on lap order.
